The mouth-blown and dichroic glass of the cross represents Christ's divinity. Found pieces from the construction site of the church's new sanctuary express Christ's full humanity and presence among the assembly. As discarded scraps have been reclaimed and integrated into the sculpture, so are parishioners redeemed to partake of Christ's sacrifice and to participate in the sacred story. At the crossing, a 19th century colorless lens focuses light from behind as an expression of divine energy. Daylight diffused from behind illuminates the glass and silhouettes an intricate metal lacework. Ambient artificial lighting at night creates an aura, reflecting from gleaming metal and mirrored dichroic glass.
